Miami Dolphins: Preston Williams

The Miami Dolphins began the year looking like washed-up trash on South Beach. They were getting blown to pieces by superior opponents and looked to be vying for the No. 1 overall pick after Week 2. Luckily, Brain Flores and company were able to prove most of their detractors wrong by being competitive down the stretch, pulling out upsets over contending teams like the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots near the season’s end.

Outside of a resurgent DeVante Parker and the bearded wonder Ryan Fitzpatrick, the Dolphins didn’t hold many household names. However, undrafted rookie Preston Williams should become one next season, as he performed admirably in his first eight games of the season.

Williams accumulated 32 catches for 428 yards and three touchdowns despite playing only half of the season. His average target distance and contested catch rate ranked 10th and 14th respectively among wide receivers. He also averaged double-digit yards per catch in all but one of his games.

While it is a virtual certainty that the Dolphins will add to their receiving room, I believe Williams could easily become the No. 3 wide receiver in this offense, ahead of Albert Wilson and Jakeem Grant. He’s a great all-around talent that should excel in Chan Gailey’s four-wide receiver sets. If Fitzpatrick remains the starter, Williams could receive heavy volume and rake up yards in 2020.
