New York Jets: Chris Herndon

Chris Herndon was expected to have a breakout year for the New York Jets in 2019. After accumulating 39 catches for 502 yards and four touchdowns in his rookie year with Sam Darnold, the Year 2 chemistry between the two players was supposed to bring Herndon to greater heights. Unfortunately, we were never able to see much of the talented tight end.

Herndon dealt with injuries all year and only managed to suit up for one game this past season, in which he caught one ball for seven yards. Nonetheless, he is a talented young tight end who should see greater production in the following season.

In 2018, he ranked first in true catch rate (92.9 percent), seventh in yards per target (9.0) and ninth in yards per catch (12.9) among all tight ends. He only had one drop on the season and was catching multiple deep passes down the field, with an average target distance of 10.5 yards. That mark ranked fifth among tight ends.

If Herndon is able to stay healthy in 2020, he could be an outstanding weapon for Darnold, who is currently lacking in that area. He may not be a household name outside of New York, but he could quickly become one with another full season catching passes from Sam Darnold.
