2. A.J. Green

The lack of weapons on offense was an issue for the Patriots this past season. Whether to lure Brady back or help out a new signal-caller, that must change. So why not add a productive pass-catcher on a low-risk, high-reward deal with a player like Cincinnati Bengals veteran wideout A.J. Green.

Green, a seven-time Pro Bowl player who will turn 32 years old in July, could fit perfectly in New England while the addition could also show Patriots quarterback Tom Brady that the organization is committed to adding pieces around him in 2020.

Green didn’t play in the NFL during the 2019 campaign due to missing the entire season while recovering from an ankle injury he suffered ahead of the year.

But prior to last season, Green has been one of the more potent wide receivers in the league and could provide New England with a nice wide receiving target on the outside of the field to pair alongside Julian Edelman and company.

Green has the ability to do just about anything a wide receiver needs to do, although the biggest question mark surrounding him is his ability to continue to do all of that at a high level while staying healthy and on the field at the same time.

Since breaking into the league in 2011 with the Bengals, Green has tallied over 1,000 yards receiving in six of his eight seasons in Cincinnati. Most recently in 2018 however, he had his worst statistical season in nine appearances for the Bengals, finishing the year with 46 catches for 694 yards and six touchdowns.

While Green is likely a player that is going to hit the market this offseason and will be looking to join a new team for the first time in his career, if he is able to get back to being healthy, the Patriots would be smart to throw him into the mix of things on offense in 2020.
