Jacksonville Jaguars: 7 Targets in 2020 NFL Draft to make a leap
4. Denzel Mims, WR, Baylor
The Jags have some draft capital to toy with. While they have plenty of major needs, a minor need comes at the wide receiver position. D.J. Chark and Gardner Minshew had an excellent connection while Deedee Westbrook is a solid option in the slot.
Teams are going to lock in on Chark, so having a running mate makes things easier — especially when you have a young quarterback. With the depth at the receiver position in the 2020 NFL Draft class, there is no need for the Jags to grab a guy in the first round.
Baylor’s Denzel Mims came into the NFL Combine underrated but left with major buzz around him. The 6-3, 207-pound wideout blazed in the 40-yard dash running a sub-4.40-second time in Indianapolis. He also showed off his elite athletic traits and gave coaches a preview of what he could bring as a route runner.
When the ball is in the air he gives the quarterback room for error thanks to his catch radius. Thanks to his elite timing in jump ball situations, he’ll win more often than not; all the quarterback has to do is throw the ball up. The former Baylor Bear has a tough playing style who dominates at the line of scrimmage with power. He’s a willing run blocker with good technique which will aid the Jags run-heavy offense.
