3. Patrick Queen, LB. LSU

Everyone has a dream prospect for their team. I imagine having Isaiah Simmons fall to them at the No. 9 pick would be that for Jacksonville since one of the Jaguars’ biggest needs is an off-ball linebacker.

Last season, Telvin Smith retired and they couldn’t fill the void no matter what they tried to do. Even Myles Jack took a little bit of a step back without his running mate. If Simmons isn’t available at No. 9, they could wait to take someone at No. 20 and LSU’s Patrick Queen is an excellent option.

First, let’s look at his NFL Combine where he jumped 35 inches and he ran a 4.50-second 40-yard dash at 6-0, 230 pounds. Don’t let his size fool you, Queen plays with tenacity; he isn’t afraid of playing downhill, although that’s not exactly his game. He’s an elite athlete with a high football IQ that allows him to fly all over the field. He’s fluid in his movements which aids in his ability to drop into zone effectively.

Thanks to his quick feet and elite athletic traits, Queen offers versatility as a man over linebacker. If they opt to draft a tackle who can keep him clean, the former LSU stud can line up as a MIKE. Pairing him with Jack gives the Jags excellent speed at the linebacker spot with two players that can perform multiple tasks.
