1. Javon Kinlaw, DT, South Carolina

With any young quarterback, a great defense is essential. The Jags are blowing things up, but they still have an excellent foundation on the defensive line. Josh Allen has shown that he’s an absolute monster off the edge, finishing the rookie season with 12 sacks.

What’s missing is an interior defensive lineman to pair with Taven Bryan — someone who can rush the passer and anchor against the run. Insert defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw is the guy.

Kinlaw’s climb to the top of the 2020 NFL Draft board started at the end of the 2019 college football season. He finished the season with six sacks as a defensive tackle in the SEC, giving both Georgia and Alabama hell for 60 minutes. The former Gamecock capitalized off a solid season with a jaw-dropping performance during the first day of Senior Bowl practice.

The defensive tackle was one of a few players that opted out of testing at the NFL Combine and that’s okay. The Jaguars can look at this tape and see he’s an explosive powerful athlete who will dominate as a gap defender. He’ll come in for the Jags and automatically improve their interior pass rush and if all goes well, he could be in play for the Defensive Rookie of the Year. The Jags can’t wait on him to fall so they’ll have to take him No. 9 overall.
