2. Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders have one of the more interesting quarterback situations in the NFL. Head coach Jon Gruden has been very noncommittal and hasn’t given a hard answer one way or another regarding Derek Carr and his future as a Raider. Thus, they could be in the market for a new franchise quarterback this offseason.

There are a few reasons why the Raiders may fall in love with Justin Herbert. Gruden has long been very fond of quarterbacks and has been invested in scouting them as well. He showed this with his “QB Camp” series in which the head coach would help out quarterbacks looking to be drafted and would go over film with them on ESPN.

Gruden showed his knowledge and love of quarterbacks on the show and Herbert’s tools may make the Raiders coach fall in love with him. Herbert has a cannon for an arm with great deep ball placement that many coaches would love in a quarterback. And those skills could very well entice Gruden.

However, Herbert’s quiet demeanor may be a detraction in the mind of Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock. Last year, the Raiders selected Clelin Ferrell with the No. 4 pick and their primary defense was the Clemson product’s personality and leadership traits. As mentioned, that’s one of the big questions with Herbert, who has often been referred to as an introvert.

If the Raiders do select Herbert, however, they could end up being a good fit for the Oregon product as Gruden’s offensive mind and likely offseason additions will put the young signal-caller in a nice overall situation.
