Houston Texans: Dontari Poe

With Dontari Poe on the verge of being on his fourth NFL team in five seasons after the Carolina Panthers decided to decline his option for 2020, there will be some concerns over signing the defensive tackle during free agency.

But at least if this turns out to be the case, the Houston Texans could use this to their advantage, and provide another veteran on the defensive side of the football.

Instead of looking at all of the bouncing around to different teams over the years, the Texans should be more focused on how Poe continues to be a reliable starter and managed to record four sacks in 11 games during his final season in Carolina.

After watching Houston come up short in the Divisional Round last January the way they did to the Kansas City Chiefs, the team clearly has a few key areas in need of improvement this offseason.

Most importantly, when looking at the high-powered offense of the Chiefs and a few other teams in the AFC, the Texans’ best chance to compete next season could come down to the play on the defensive side of the football.

Overall, Houston has plenty of reasons to feel confident about their current group of contenders, but adding a key veteran in Poe could put the unit in a better position.
