At the moment, there seems to be plenty of talk surrounding the possibility of Tom Brady teaming up with Bruce Arians to become the next quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers since the offense is loaded with plenty of weapons to work with.
But even if Brady ends up in Tampa Bay, this shouldn’t prevent the Buccaneers from still considering Newton as a backup, especially if it would come at a cheaper price.
Before anyone freaks out over the possibility of the Panthers pulling off a trade within the division, keep in mind moves like this have taken place before in the NFL.
Despite the team’s current playoff drought, the Buccaneers have seemed like a team for years that always seems ready to make the leap to become a contender in the NFC before coming up short in the playoffs.
The thought of Tampa Bay having what it takes to be a legitimate playoff contender in 2020 may sound crazy to even consider at the moment, but if they finally move on from Jameis Winston, it could very well become realistic.
With all due respect to Winston, the former No. 1 pick has been holding this team back for years, and it’s time for a fresh start at quarterback for the Buccaneers, or 2020 could be another wasted opportunity.
