Pick Analysis. Round 3. Jacob Eason. QB. player. Scouting Report. Pick 76. 818

Tom Brady signed a one-year deal and will enter the season at 43 years of age. That means this wasn’t a long-term marriage between him and the Bucs, but instead, a short-term shot at making a run in the NFC. If things go well, and Brady continues to defy Father Time, there could very well be a second season. However, there aren’t many scenarios where they will get much more than that out of TB12.

And with Ryan Griffin as the only other quarterback under contract right now, the Bucs are going to need to start thinking about the future. Where Brady helps with this, is that they don’t have to go for a player in Round 1. They also don’t need to grab a guy who is ready to start right away.

With that being said, they take Washington’s Jacob Eason with their 76th overall pick. Eason originally started his collegiate career with the Georgia Bulldogs and was a starter as a freshman in 2016. He ended up getting hurt the following year and lost his job to Jake Fromm.

Eason then transferred to the Huskies and had to sit out the 2018 season. He ended up starting just one year for Washington and played very well. Eason completed 64.2 percent of his passes for 3,132 yards with a 23-to-8 touchdown-to-interception ratio. There are some knocks on Eason as his lack of experience hurts him as does his inconsistent footwork. He was also said to struggle with Combine interviews, according to Todd McShay.

This is why a place like Tampa Bay is great for him. He can work behind Brady, who is the best in the game to learn from. Not only that, but head coach Bruce Arians knows how to get the most out of his quarterbacks, which could be exactly what Eason needs.
