NFL Free Agency 2020: 10 Best players still available and their best landing spots
6. Vonn Bell, S
Safety is always one of the most interesting positions to watch in NFL free agency because it all depends on what teams value at the position. The exception to that, however, may be Vonn Bell this year as the safety, most recently with the Saints, has the ability to wear a lot of hats.
Make no mistake, Bell excels as a box safety coming up against the run. Moreover, he’s not going to match up and shut down opposing wide receivers if he’s moved to a true nickel role. However, his ability to come up and defend against the run and to cover tight ends and running backs in the short and intermediate areas could be valuable.
With many safety dominoes in free agency already having fallen, there could be a late surge for teams trying to land Bell as he’ll bring a nice upgrade at safety to a defense in need.
Best Possible Landing Spots: Bengals, Saints, 49ers
5. Robby Anderson, WR
So much of the hype around Robby Anderson entering NFL free agency is about the potential of the young wide receiver. To be sure, he’s been productive with at least 750 receiving yards and five touchdowns in each of the past three seasons with the Jets.
The issue is that Anderson has not fully realized his potential. He’s undoubtedly got the speed necessary to be a deep threat in the NFL but, whether it be because of how he was used with New York in the offense or simply because of a lack of development, he’s never fully emerged as a top-tier player in that role.
He’ll be 27 years old when the 2020 season begins, meaning that his best football could still be in front of him. Anderson will likely be paid handsomely and, if a team can unlock his potential, he’ll be well worth it.
