With the Los Angeles Rams releasing Todd Gurley, here are five contenders that should consider adding the running back to their roster for the 2020 season.

Less than two years after signing a whopping four-year, $60 million extension with the Los Angeles Rams, Todd Gurley is in search of a new team for the 2020 season.

Over the last couple of weeks, there had been plenty of talks surrounding the Rams exploring trade options for the three-time Pro Bowler, but it looks like after failing to do so, Los Angeles made the difficult decision to release Gurley on Thursday.

A few years ago, Gurley was considered one of the top running backs in the league and even appeared to be a big part of the long-term plans for the Rams after Sean McVay helped the offense emerge as one of the best in the league.

But after Gurley took a bit of a step back in 2019 due to a mysterious injury along with Los Angeles as a team in general struggling by failing to earn a trip to the playoffs one year after reaching the Super Bowl, it appears the Rams believed this was the best move to save money.

Now, the popular topic of discussion will be which team Gurley could end up for the 2020 season since there will most likely be numerous teams exploring the possibility with the hope he can return to his form from a few years ago.

Despite the issues from last season, it’s difficult to ignore the fact that Gurley recorded 3,924 yards from scrimmage to go along with 40 touchdowns in 29 games from 2017-18, meaning the potential is always going to seem to be there.
