Brandin Cooks trade rumors: 5 Teams that should deal with Rams
Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers have needed a compliment to Davante Adams ever since Jordy Nelson left in 2018. Since then, they’ve been recycling through less talented receivers such as Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard in the hopes they could find Aaron Rodgers another solid weapon. Unfortunately, their experiment hasn’t panned out.
Outside of Adams, no Packers receiver has surpassed 700 receiving yards since Nelson did it in 2016. While this draft class is full of talented wideouts who have the chance to be elite, the Packers can’t wait that long. They need an immediate contributor to capitalize on their closing championship window. Cooks has the experience and pedigree to fill that void.
Aaron Rodgers took somewhat of a backseat in the offense last season, as Aaron Jones was able to rush for over 1,000 yards on 236 carries. However, that may have been a product of not having reliable weapons in the passing game. Cooks would change that, as he has been a steady receiver at each of his previous three landing spots.
Adding a deep threat would open up holes for Jones in the run game and give Rodgers the ability to utilize his deep ball accuracy. It would also take pressure off of Adams, who had a 22 percent target share last season despite missing four games. With Cooks in the fold, we could finally see a resurgence from the Packers passing offense and return to MVP-form for Rodgers.
