New York Jets build all around Sam Darnold in 7-round 2020 mock draft

The New York Jets build around their young quarterback, Sam Darnold, and give him the tools he needs to succeed in this 2020 seven-round mock draft
What looked to be a complete dumpster fire in the Big Apple turned out to be a season to build upon for the New York Jets. After struggling out of the gates with a 1-7 start to the season, the Jets won six of their final eight games.
Quarterback Sam Darnold missed three games early, and New York lost them all. Had he been healthy, there’s a good chance they could have finished with a better record than the 7-9 mark they finished with. As it stands, there’s still a lot to be encouraged about — but it all starts with Darnold.
New York traded up for him in the 2018 NFL Draft and so far, he has shown plenty of talent. He’s also looked young on the field a lot of times, but considering he’s still just 22 years old, that’s not surprising at all.
In his first 26 games as the starter, Darnold is 11-15 and has completed just under 60 percent of his passes for 5,889 yards with a 36-to-28 touchdown-to-interception ratio. And while he does have more touchdowns than picks, that was the knock on him in college — turnovers.
In order for him to cut down on those, the Jets need to do their part and build around him. Darnold needs more time in the pocket and has to have better weapons to throw to. With that in mind, we dive into this 2020 NFL Mock Draft and add the pieces around the young quarterback that he will need to take his next step.
