The Dallas Cowboys love bargain shopping in free agency and with a couple of moves already done, here are three overlooked names they could still add without breaking the bank

So far, the Dallas Cowboys appear to be operating under a familiar strategy. For the past few seasons, they have let free agency mostly pass them by as they might test the waters with some bug names (see Emmanuel Sanders and Jadeveon Clowney) but they don’t pull the trigger unless they find a deal (see Gerald McCoy).

Whether or not this is the smartest approach to free agency can be debated. Some teams do end up becoming better with the big signings, but there are also teams that continually win the offseason only to finish with a losing record year after year.

What can’t be debated is that this is how the team will operate for the foreseeable future. And with that being the case, we should continue to look at potential additions that might not be included in the first tier of free agents.

With all that being said, here are three overlooked free agents that the Cowboys could still sign as they look to build a competitive roster.

Honorable Mention: Geoff Swaim, Tight End

The Dallas Cowboys had to replace Jason Witten once before and they turned to a combination of Geoff Swaim and Blake Jarwin to do so. It didn’t really work at the time, but that was due to Jarwin being raw. He hadn’t developed into the player he is now and Swaim wasn’t an ideal fit as the starter.

He wasn’t terrible though, catching 26-of-32 targets for 242 yards and a touchdown. Swaim was also really good as a blocker for Dallas — something Jarwin still won’t be doing much of.

Swaim was recently cut by Jacksonville and it could make sense to bring him back. He would be in a much better role as the No. 2 guy behind Jarwin and could keep them from reaching in the draft for depth.
