The Las Vegas Raiders look to take their next step under Jon Gruden and now add some explosion to their offense in this 7-round mock draft

The Las Vegas Raiders have been somewhat busy this offseason. Getting ready for their first year in their new home, the former Oakland-based team is ready to bring in some new faces for their fans to root for. However, some of the moves they made were a bit confusing.

First was the signing of Jason Witten. Sure, head coach Jon Gruden has shown an affinity for older players — it isn’t working this time around — but Witten doesn’t even make sense. The Raiders have two superior options right now in Darren Waller and Foster Moreau. Waller broke out with 1,145 yards and Moreau had more touchdowns (five) in a reserve role than Witten did as a starter (four). Las Vegas even paid Witten more than $4 million, which suggests he’s going to see the field a lot — which will be detrimental to Moreau.

Witten wasn’t the only former Dallas Cowboys player they added either as defensive tackle Maliek Collins and safety Jeff Heath were also signed. Collins was an underrated move, but they gave Heath a two-year, $8 million deal. That’s quite a bit more than the $2.5 million deal for one season KJarl Joseph signed with Cleveland, meaning the Raiders could have saved money and kept arguably a better player.

Having said all that, we can’t go and change those moves and only Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock know the entire thought process that went into these decisions. What we can do, is look ahead to the 2020 NFL Draft and do our best to predict the Raiders moves — which is exactly what we do here in this seven-round mock draft.
