Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 10 Targets in 2020 NFL Draft to jumpstart Tom Brady era
4. K.J. Hamler, WR, Penn State
Tom Brady was at his best in his career with a guy who can make plays in the slot. The Bucs are loaded on offense with two dynamic wideouts capable of being the No. 1 option on any team. However, if the Bucs want to destroy teams on the scoreboard, adding an electric slot receiver would make that happen.
There is no receiver more electric than Penn Sate’s K.J. Hamler, who’s ideally suited for the slot position. What stands out about Hamler is his ability to make things happen after the catch. He’s exceptionally quick and does a great job making defenders miss. Once he’s in the open field, he’s a threat to take it to the house.
Hamler is a shifty route runner who performs best with a clean release. He snaps off the top of his routes and does a great job with head fakes and double moves. He’s a big play waiting to happen who can separate at every level. If not for his 5-9,178-pound frame, Hamler would be a lock for the first round.
Brady will make the best use of his skills since he hasn’t had a player with his explosiveness since Brandin Cooks. Hamler could see volume as a rookie and cement his name in the Offensive Rookie of the Year conversation is he’s a Buccaneer.
