2020 NFL Mock Draft: Dolphins, Cowboys trade up in post-free agency 3-round mock
By Randy Gurzi
So far in the 2020 offseason, the Dallas Cowboys have done a pretty good job filling out their roster. While they lost cornerback Byron Jones, edge rusher Robert Quinn, and slot receiver Randall Cobb, they did pick up some players that fill massive needs which allows them to draft for the best player available.
Dallas signed safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, cornerback Maurice Canady and defensive tackle Gerald McCoy. Canady gives them someone capable of helping at cornerback whereas McCoy and Clinton-Dix play two spots that have been linked to the Cowboys at No. 17. Neither stops them from adding a safety or defensive tackle, but they won’t have to reach.
With that being the case, Dallas decides against Xavier McKinney, Grant Delpit, or Javon Kinlaw and instead grabs C.J. Henderson, the cornerback out of Florida. Henderson is not only the top guy for them on the board but he also fills a much greater need for Dallas.
Much like Byron Jones, who just left in free agency, Henderson has elite size for the outside at 6-foot-1 and 204-pounds. He’s also lightning fast, evidenced by his 4.39 time in the 40-yard dash at the Scouting Combine. He also had 20 reps in the bench press showing he has great strength as well. He won’t be as polished as Jones but they will be good enough in the secondary to stay competitive.
