2020 NFL Mock Draft: Dolphins, Cowboys trade up in post-free agency 3-round mock

Last season, the Miami Dolphins went crazy in their fire sale and so far, they have to be happy with the results. In this mock, they were able to turn their top-five pick and the first-rounder they got into Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. And now they’re back on the clock thanks to another trade they made during their garage sale.
Miami shipped defensive back Mikah Fitzpatrick to the Pittsburgh Steelers, which was a highly criticized move. Fitzpatrick, another Alabama product, was a Swiss Army Knife in the secondary. He could play centerfield, close to the line, in the slot, and was good in run support. This is why he was so highly coveted by other teams, but also means they have a hole to fill.
After finding (and then trading) such a good player, the Dolphins go right back to where they found him. With the pick acquired for Fitzpatrick, they add another Alabama safety, Xavier McKinney. He may not be the exact caliber as Fitzpatrick but he can do all the same things, and he enters this class as the most complete safety.
McKinney really broke out in 2018, recording 74 tackles, three sacks and two picks. He was even better in 2019, despite playing two fewer games. That season he registered 95 tackles, another three sacks, and a career-high three picks. They surely hated giving up their second pick in this round but the two Alabama kids they add make them a much better team.
