4. Miami Dolphins

Much like the Houston Texans in the slide prior to this, the Miami Dolphins already have their likely starting running back, but that might not stop them from adding another piece to the backfield this offseason.

There’s no question that Miami struggled throughout the course of the 2019 campaign, finishing the year with an overall record of 5-11 overall and finishing at the bottom of the AFC East standings.

One of the biggest reasons for those struggles was due to the Dolphins’ lack of talent out of the backfield and at the running back position, among other positions. Miami averaged just 72.2 yards per game on the ground during the regular season, which was the worst mark in the NFL.

That lack of talent at the running back spot persuaded the Dolphins to go out early in the offseason and sign former Chicago Bears running back Jordan Howard to a two-year deal.

But Miami could look to continue to add to that group if Freeman is still on the free-agent market as the offseason continues to roll along, and the Dolphins certainly have more than enough cap space to add more pieces.

Freeman would provide a young Miami squad with a veteran presence alongside Howard, and that duo could make for a nice pairing that could both rush and catch out fo the backfield.

Another aspect to this is Freeman is originally from Miami, so he could maybe look to return home and go back to his roots during the 2020 campaign and beyond.
