One of the unsung heroes on the Chicago Bears defense is Eddie Goldman. His play, especially against the run, allows the “stars” to shine. The Bears need to keep him healthy, however. In his five seasons, he missed 13 games. The Bears need to do what they can to have him play in as many games as possible.

Drafting Broderick Washington Jr. would help keep Goldman healthy. He can come in and give the starter some snaps off early in the game. That keeps Goldman fresh for the end of the game and fresh at the end of the season (and hopefully into the playoffs).

Washington plays with meanness on the field. He wants to fight offensive linemen and his attitude is something coaches love. After only one start in his freshman season, he went on and started all of Texas Tech’s 37 games the next three seasons. He’s played in every game during his four-year college career.

Washington is a little undersized, but he makes up for it with his strength. His upper body strength is incredible and it helps him fight off blocks. He is also a very smart football player. He understands what the opposing offensive line wants to do and counters it. Also, he always knows where the ball carrier is.

As he enters the NFL, Washington is not a starter and won’t be a star but he can play in rotation and help keep Goldman fresh and healthy. That helps the Chicago Bears win games and get to and make a long playoff run.
