3. Van Jefferson, WR, Florida

The Vikings dug themselves into a hole after trading away Stefon Diggs. Adam Thielen is more than capable of making great things happen individually but he can’t do it alone. If he gets hurt again, there isn’t a wide receiver on the roster capable of picking up the slack.

No offense to Olabisi Johnson, but he’s better suited as a No. 3 option or simply operating out of the slot. What the Vikings need is a boundary receiver to replace Diggs and an underrated plug-and-play option is the former Florida standout, Van Jefferson.

Gary Kubiak runs a west-coast, run-heavy scheme that relies on play-action and timing. Coming from Florida, Jefferson played in an offense with similar philosophies. He doesn’t have great production but the son of a wide receivers coach (Jets) is a well-refined wideout. Jefferson is a strong, tenacious player at the line of scrimmage. He carries that same mentality in his excellent route running as he uses physicality to separate.

While he isn’t a speedster, he does provide an adequate downfield threat thanks to his physicality and timing on jump balls. The 6-1, 200-pound wideout brings a competitive toughness that meshes well with the Vikings. He’s a Day 2 prospect who will have Day 1 production if he’s in a Viking uniform.
