It seemed as though the Ravens had at least five tight ends that could perform last season. Clearly that’s an exaggeration, but there’s no denying it was their biggest strength on the roster. That’s why they were willing to trade away Hayden Hurst this offseason as Mark Andrews and Nick Boyle will take on the main duties.

They will need more help to get through the season, which is why they take Stanford’s Colby Parkinson with their fifth-round pick. Parkinson is an imposing figure at 6-7 and 252 pounds and like Andrews, he’s a good route runner that can cause defenses problems in the passing game.

It wasn’t intentional grabbing so many small-school prospects, but the Ravens get another potential here in Alex Taylor out of South Carolina State. Taylor checked in at 6-8 and 308 pounds at the Combine and has great athleticism to go along with his size.

A redshirt senior, Taylor has a lot of experience but will need some work to get up to speed with the completion he will be facing in the NFL. In time, he could develop into a starter, making him well worth the pick.
