Laviska Shenault Jr.: 5 Best landing spots in 2020 NFL Draft
By Dan Parzych
4. Jacksonville Jaguars
Will the Jacksonville Jaguars regret trading Nick Foles to the Chicago Bears to pave the way for Gardner Minshew running the offense in 2020?
With all due respect to Minshew since the youngster certainly was exciting to watch at times as a rookie last season, but it seems unfair to label Foles a bust for the Jaguars since the former Super Bowl MVP wasn’t exactly in the best position to succeed.
One can only imagine how different things would have been for Foles in 2019 if he didn’t suffer a broken collarbone right away in Week 1, but now the focus on Jacksonville is making sure Minshew receives as much help as possible on offense.
Between having Leonard Fournette in the backfield along with DJ Chark continuing to show a ton of potential at receiver, Minshew isn’t exactly in the worst position entering his first full year as the starting quarterback for the Jaguars.
However, the argument can be made that Minshew will need additional help at wide receiver is Jacksonville is going to have any shot at competing in the AFC moving forward.
Taking Shenault at No. 9 will seem too high for the Jaguars with all of the other prospects expected to be available, but with Jacksonville having an additional pick at No. 20 as well, and No. 42 in the second, one of these could be better options for the wideout.
