F. . AFC. South. HOUSTON TEXANS

Following the Houston Texans in the 2020 offseason has been like a fever dream in the worst way. Bill O’Brien’s exploits as general manager should have him sued by Texans fans for malpractice. Not wanting to pay DeAndre Hopkins and trading him for David Johnson and a second-round pick (while giving away a fourth-round pick) is ludicrous. And it doesn’t stop there.

Not only did O’Brien and the Texans let one of the best receivers in football go but they then signed veteran Randall Cobb to one of the biggest wide receiver deals in 2020 NFL free agency, which is as absurd as it sounds. And while retaining Bradley Roby is fine, it doesn’t redeem how poorly this team is being run right now. A team that should be contending with Deshaun Watson may be staring down a rebuild sooner rather than later.

A. . AFC. South. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS

There were three questions that the Colts faced coming into the offseason. First, they needed to figure out an answer at quarterback as Jacoby Brissett didn’t appear to be the guy to lead them to prominence. So they signed Philip Rivers to a one-year deal that could pay huge dividends.

Second, Indianapolis needed to establish an identity in the trenches, which they did by not only trading a first-round pick for DeForest Buckner but then inking the gifted defensive tackle to a huge extension that makes him one of the highest-paid players at the position.

And third, they needed to retain their offensive line, which they did by re-signing Anthony Castonzo. Ultimately, what the Colts have done is make themselves into a Super Bowl dark horse, especially if they can use a still sizeable amount of draft capital wisely.
