WR. 850. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Pick 97. Bryan Edwards. player. Round 3

The Browns have two of the better starting wide receivers in the NFL with Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry. 2019 was considered a frustrating season for OBJ, but he still managed to finish with more than 1,000-yards — as did Landry. The problem is, the Browns are incredibly thin behind the two superstar players.

As their roster stands now, KhaDarel Hodge and Damion Ratley will battle for the third spot. There’s no doubt that they’re going to want to add more talent to the depth chart to build some competition there. It’s not a top need, which is why they wait until their second pick in Round 3, but they find a steal here in South Carolina’s Bryan Edwards.

Edwards was a four-year starter in Columbia and had 234 receptions for 3,054 yards and 22 touchdowns. His numbers could have been even better with more consistent play from under center, and no matter what the doubters say, that won’t be an issue in Cleveland.

He’s not one of the big names in the draft but he’s as polished as they come. Listed at 6-3 and 212 pounds, Edwards is a smooth route runner that can haul in contested passes. He should have no problem finding the field early and often for the Browns as their wide receiver No. 3. And with no disrespect meant to the competition, he should be an upgrade there as well.
