3. Minnesota Vikings

Despite how it may appear after the Stefon Diggs trade, the Minnesota Vikings are still contenders to compete for a title this season. Coming off a 10-6 season and a Divisional Round appearance, the Vikings are looking more to reload than rebuild. With few needs along the roster, I expect the Vikings to trade up in the first round to grab a premier prospect.

Aside from their two first-round selections, Minnesota also has multiple draft choices in the third, sixth and seventh rounds. Given the team has approximately $10 million in cap space and is still attempting to re-sign Everson Griffen, the Vikings don’t have the roster space nor available cash to sign 15 rookies. It seems likely the Vikings use their abundance of draft capital to trade up in the first round.

Minnesota may attempt to grab an elite defensive back to make up for the losses of Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes and Mackensie Alexander; they could also trade up to the early teens to grab an elite wide receiver to start opposite Adam Thielen.

With a roster full of talent, the Vikings are more likely to trade up to acquire an immediate contributor than settle for depth pieces with their mid-round picks.
