842. Scouting Report. Derrick Brown. 3. Pick Analysis. Defensive Lineman. Auburn. player

Speaking of players basically a lock to be selected in the top 10, Derrick Brown is another star defender who won’t have to wait long to hear his name called on opening night of the draft since the Auburn product is considered one of the best prospects for a reason.

Over the years, the Tigers have seen plenty of their former defenders go on to have amazing careers in the NFL, and it seems like only a matter of time before Brown is playing on a high enough level to add his name to that impressive list.

Part of the reason behind Detroit’s decision to hire Patricia two years ago was due to the fact he was considered a defensive mastermind during his time spent with the New England Patriots with the hope of helping the Lions’ defense reach new levels.

Through two seasons, there have been a few times in which Patricia’s impact appeared to be working, but the three wins from 2019 make it clear the unit is nowhere near where the Lions need them to be.

The addition of someone like Brown isn’t going to solve all the issues Detroit experienced at times throughout 2019, but with his explosiveness and impressive frame, this would at least be a major step in the right direction.
