The Dallas Cowboys filled many of their holes in free agency but they still have some work to do. They try and finish building their roster in this 7-round mock draft.

This offseason went strange in a hurry for the Dallas Cowboys. Not only did they see a couple of fixtures leave the team, but they also decided to target some positions in free agency that they had ignored for years. Of course, that’s what usually happens when you change your staff over, but that was another interesting story for America’s Team.

After falling short of the NFC East title — in a season where no one wanted to win the division — Dallas was set to make some big changes. They were allowing Jason Garrett’s contract to expire and it was time for a new coach. Maybe.

Even with the writing on the wall, Garrett just wouldn’t leave. And the Jones family didn’t want to use the dreaded ‘F’ word on someone they respected so much. It was so awkward that the Cowboys even interviewed candidates and hired Mike McCarthy before Garrett officially left.

After some time, that weirdness died out but then the Cowboys did something else to raise some eyebrows. With a need at defensive end, Dallas signed Aldon Smith, who has had some dominant seasons in the NFL. The problem is, those seasons happened many years ago as Smith has been indefinitely suspended and hasn’t played in four years.

Of course, Dallas took on very little risk here as Smith is playing on an incentive-based contract and might end up surprising them.

With all that dust settling now, we look ahead to the 2020 NFL Draft and predict what the Cowboys will do to finish building their roster in this 7-round mock.
