With the 66th overall pick, Washington adds a player who can line up opposite Terry McLaurin in Brandon Aiyuk from Arizona State. While McLaurin was a surprise for them in 2019, the Redskins also had their share of disappointments. One such let down was Paul Richardson, who never developed into the consistent threat they hoped he would be. Due to this, he was released in the offseason.
That opens the door for a rookie, such as Aiyuk, to step in and take a starting job. Aiyuk is a junior college transfer that really took off in 2019 after N’Keal Harry headed to the pros. He finished with 1,192 receptions on 65 receptions with eight touchdowns for the Sun Devils during his senior season.
He’s not polished, which is why he’s still around in the third but Aiyuk’s ability to make things happen after the catch will make him a fan-favorite in no time.
With the 108th pick, the Redskins go after an offensive tackle in Saahdiq Charles from LSU. Right now, the offensive line has some questions, specifically with Trent Williams. The Pro Bowl left tackle has no interest in re-joining the team and they seem willing to play hardball unless they get a premium pick.
Whatever ends up happening, chances are Williams will never play for Washington again. That means they need to start looking for help.
