Green Bay Packers improve defense early in 7-round 2020 mock draft

The Green Bay Packers add a playmaker to the middle of their defense in the first round before addressing the offense in this 7-round 2020 mock draft.
The 2020 NFL Draft is fast approaching, which means fans will finally have football-related content to consume at the end of the month. The first round of the draft kicks off on April 23, with the Green Bay Packers set to pick 30th overall.
Green Bay has a few pressing needs, starting with getting Aaron Rodgers some help at wide receiver. The Packers already addressed the receiver position in free agency by signing Devin Funchess to a one-year deal. Funchess, who was drafted in the second round by the Carolina Panthers in 2015, figures to be the No. 2 option in the Packers passing attack this coming season.
Even with the addition of Funchess, however, Green Bay’s offense lacks a dynamic speed threat. Drafting a high profile receiver in the top 100 picks should be a priority in April’s draft.
Another huge need for the Packers is inside linebacker. The team signed Christian Kirksey to a two-year deal earlier this month, but the depth behind him is less than desirable. With the linebacker class in this year’s draft being top-heavy, the Packers may need to spend an early pick to get a difference-maker at the position. Patrick Queen and Kenneth Murray headline the inside linebacker class.
If the Packers want to improve this offseason, they’ll need to add speed on both sides of the ball. Both linebacker and receiver were major holes in 2019, lacking dynamic playmakers. Having the ability to both cover and attack the middle of the field with speed is incredibly important. The Packers weren’t able to do much of either last season.
If you haven’t caught on yet, Green Bay needs to add speed. With that in mind, here’s a full seven-round 2020 NFL mock draft for the Packers.
