Round 4, Pick 136: Hakeem Adeniji, OT, Kansas

The Packers get a developmental offensive lineman in the fourth round, which has been their sweet spot for several years (starting left tackle David Bakhtiari was a fourth-rounder). Kansas offensive tackle Hakeem Adeniji is the pick at No. 136.

A four-year starter, Adeniji took over at right tackle on Day 1 as a true freshman and never looked back. He eventually moved to left tackle, logging 48-straight starts from 2016-2019 in the process. At the NFL Scouting Combine, Adeniji performed well in every drill. His vertical leap (34 inches), broad jump (115 inches) and 10-yard split (1.78 seconds) were particularly impressive.

Adeniji (6-4, 302) has the athletic ability to stay at left tackle, though he will need to add lean muscle in order to hold up against NFL-sized defensive ends if he doesn’t want to be forced to move inside to guard. His athleticism should give him a better chance to be drafted higher than usual.

Offensive line is one of the most scarce position groups in all of football. When a player like Adeniji comes along with favorable athletic traits, coaches will want to take a chance. It doesn’t hurt that he has the experience to back it up.
