Green Bay Packers improve defense early in 7-round 2020 mock draft
By Joe Kipp
Round 5, Pick 175: Antoine Brooks Jr., S, Maryland
The Packers need a big-bodied safety that can play the role of dime linebacker. Maryland’s Antoine Brooks Jr. fits the bill here. He’ll replace the recently departed Ibraheim Campbell.
Round 6, Pick 192: Reggie Robinson II, CB, Tulsa
The Packers elect to wait on taking a cornerback until the later rounds with the selection of Reggie Robinson II. Robinson’s athletic profile is intriguing (4.44-second 40-yard dash, 36-inch vertical), and he’d be a candidate to start on special teams immediately.
Round 6, Pick 208: Dalton Keene, TE, Virginia Tech
Green Bay takes a shot on Virginia Tech tight end Dalton Keene. The Packers don’t have much depth at the position, so they take a late-round flier on a potential h-back in Matt LaFleur’s offense.
Round 6, Pick 209: James Lynch, DL, Baylor
Baylor defensive end James Lynch is the type of player who may not have a spectacular career in the NFL but could go on to play for five or more years with a major role on special teams.
Round 7, Pick 236: Charlie Woerner, TE, Georgia
The Packers continue adding to the tight end position by drafting Charlie Woerner with their first pick in the seventh round.
Round 7, Pick 242: Kelly Bryant, QB, Missouri
Kelly Bryant provides the team with a potential backup option at quarterback with competition for Tim Boyle in training camp.
