Chicago Bears: 5 Wide receivers to target in 2020 NFL Draft
The Chicago Bears need speed and depth at wide receiver heading into next season and these five players should be targets in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Well, the first wave of free agency came and went. The Chicago Bears signed some players who they hope help improve the roster. Since we don’t have them playing yet, we go on popular opinion (for now) of those moves. Some think the Bears and general manager Ryan Pace did a good job but most feel this might be one of the worst free agency classes since he got to Chicago.
No matter what your opinion is on his free agency moves, we now turn to the 2020 NFL Draft. Like with everything else, Pace has had his ups and downs here. He found some diamonds in the rough and had some steals but he’s also whiffed on some key picks. Such is the life of a general manager.
Pace still needs to fill some needs and he decided to go through the draft to fill those needs. One such need is at wide receiver. Aside from Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller, there isn’t much in that unit.
Cordarrelle Patterson is the Swiss Army Knife of the offense. He’s used all over the field. He lines up on the outside, in the slot, in the backfield, and even volunteered to play some at tight end.
Riley Ridley has the tools to be a big contributor. He has good size and great athleticism. He has the ability to make great circus catches the way Alshon Jeffery did when he was in Chicago. He didn’t get many chances in 2019, but he’ll get his chances in 2020. Javon Wims is nothing more than a placeholder. He will never play more than a handful of snaps if he even makes the team in 2020.
This year’s crop of wide receivers is very deep. It could be one of the best years for receivers. You can look up and down the rounds and you’ll find someone who could help your team. Expect the Chicago Bears to draft one. The question is, where they’ll draft one. Will they get one early, or wait until later in the draft?
Here are five wide receiver targets the Bears should target in the 2020 NFL Draft.
