2. Don’t leave the draft without weapons for the QB

Miami should take a look at what the rest of the AFC East has done this offseason.

The Buffalo Bills traded a bounty of draft picks for Stefon Diggs, a legitimate No. 1 wide receiver that can help Josh Allen. The New York Jets signed five offensive linemen, a measure taken to ensure Sam Darnold stays upright. Even the New England Patriots, who did not make many free agent moves, franchise-tagged their premier guard Joe Thuney.

The key to competing in the AFC East is to give your quarterback as much assistance and weapons as possible. Currently, the Dolphins are barren in that department.

Their offensive line gave up a league-high 58 sacks in 2019 and their leading rusher was a 37-year-old quarterback. DeVante Parker finally broke out with a 1,200-yard season, but the remainder of their wide receiver corp leaves much to be desired.

The Dolphins cannot discount the offensive side of the ball in the draft; they need to place a premium on offensive linemen and weapons for their quarterback of the future. Given they play in a division where all three of their rivals ranked in the top-seven in terms of yards allowed, Miami needs to ensure they don’t set their quarterback up to fail behind a subpar offensive unit.
