The Dallas Cowboys have a new direction this coming season and that can be big for these three players who are primed for breakout seasons in 2020

This has been an offseason full of change for the Dallas Cowboys. After watching a promising season go up in smoke, the front office finally decided to pull the plug on Jason Garrett as their head coach. Well, that is after allowing him what felt like an eternity to conduct exit interviews while they looked for his replacement while he was in the building.

Dallas ended up hiring former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy, who has made some changes of his own. While he did keep offensive coordinator Kellen Moore on his staff, he changed out the staff on the defensive side of the ball as well as special teams.

McCarthy plans to let Moore continue to call the plays, which is understandable given the success he had in his first season as an offensive coordinator. Moore led the Cowboys to the No. 1 offense in terms of yards, averaging 431.5 total yards per game. They need to clean up their scoring efficiency as they finished sixth with 27.1 points per contest but that was still a great start for the young play-caller.

On defense, he’s turned things over to Mike Nolan, who rose to prominence with the Baltimore Ravens before taking a head coaching job with the San Francisco 49ers. Most recently, Nolan was coaching linebackers with the New Orleans Saints. He brings a much different philosophy than his predecessor, Rod Marinelli, which could bring a breath of fresh air.

The same can be said for special teams coordinator John Fassel who replaces Keith O’Quinn. Fassel is a well-respected coach in this area whereas O’Quinn’s unit really struggled to flip field position for the Cowboys.

With the changes that happened this offseason, as well as the big decision to retain Moore, there will be several players primed to breakout in 2020. Here we look at three such players that could have big campaigns for the Dallas Cowboys.
