3. New York Jets

If you’re trying to find a New York Jets edge rusher in recent memory who has been able to single-handedly impact a game with their pass-rush ability, you’re going to come up empty. Gang Green has struggled in this department for quite some time and it’s been a glaring weakness on this roster. And most figure that the Jets will try to address that concern in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The issue with that, however, is that the Jets aren’t expected to have an edge rusher as their top priority in the 2020 draft. Instead, finding both an offensive tackle to help keep Sam Darnold from constantly playing under duress and also finding a top-notch wide receiver are likely at the top of New York’s to-do list and for good reason. But that means they are going to be throwing darts when they move to take a player to put on the edge.

But the simple truth of the matter is that the Jets can’t walk into the 2020 season happy if Jordan Jenkins, Tarell Basham and Harvey Langi are their top options at outside linebacker. Subsequently, now that the market for Jadeveon Clowney is slightly more affordable and seemingly open for business, it would be wise for New York to make their move.

As mentioned, even the Jets would be apprehensive about signing a player with a questionable injury history and whose production has been a bit spotty at times. However, the franchise made it clear they expect to win sooner rather than later with the Le’Veon Bell and C.J. Mosley signings last offseason and adding Clowney to the fold would give them another piece to help them compete in a now wide-open AFC East race.
