Los Angeles Rams 7-round 2020 mock draft after Brandin Cooks trade
Jalen Ramsey is going to get locked up to a long-term deal soon and David Long, a 2019 draft pick, has some nice upside. Having said that, the Los Angeles Rams very clearly need to add depth and quality at the cornerback position.
Michael Ojemudia is not an ideal scheme fit for the Rams as he’s ideally suited for a team that relies heavily on zone coverage. While that may be the case, he’s a talented and smart player with physical limitations that can come in and potentially be a sub-package player that’s valuable to the LA defense.
With Gurley out of the fold, the Rams need to add a running back to join Darrell Henderson and Malcolm Brown, though they don’t need a premium pick. Instead, they can take a flier on Darius Anderson out of TCU. The former Horned Frog is explosive and has the baseline tools as a runner to thrive. He just needs to garner experience and get better coaching. In McVay’s system with NFL coaching, however, he could be a tremendous sleeper.
As mentioned with the Charles selection at the end of the third round, the Rams need to rework their offensive line. Furthermore, they also are at their best when using offensive linemen who can move well.
Zach Shackleford has his flaws as he needs to improve his play strength and hand placement as a blocker on the interior. Having said that, he moves very well in space and can be a valuable player to push last year’s starters at guard for reps.
