The Dallas Cowboys end up trading back in the first round of this 2020 NFL Mock Draft and land more picks while securing their No. 2 edge rusher of the future

The 2020 NFL Draft is going to be unlike anything we have ever seen before. With the COVID-19 threat forcing people to stay indoors, the league has decided to hold the draft virtually and each franchise’s decision-makers must make their picks from home.

This has caused a dust-up as some believe the Dallas Cowboys have an unfair advantage with Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones being related, meaning they will be able to be together for the draft. Surely, they’re not the only ones in the NFL that have relatives on the same staff and it’s also not as if they can’t set up video conferencing to have the same discussions the Joneses will, but still when there’s something to complain about we all get to hear it.

For the Cowboys, this draft is going to be highly important. They finally realized this offseason that the Jason Garrett era had long run past its expiration date and they now have a new coach in Mike McCarthy. With him coming in, they are expecting to make big strides after falling short last season despite having a talented roster.

They did lose some of that talent with Byron Jones, Robert Quinn, and Randall Cobb all leaving in free agency. With them gone, Dallas got to work in free agency and landed Gerald McCoy, Dontari Poe, and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. Overall, their roster looks to be close to even from a season ago as needs at safety became a need at cornerback and needs at defensive tackle became a need on the edge.

With all that being said, we now look ahead to the draft with this 7-round mock for the Cowboys, which includes trade predictions. Sitting at No. 17, Dallas has the luxury of dropping down and adding more stock, which they do here.
