Round 1. Pick 19. Denzel Mims. WR. 860. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player

After going with a cornerback earlier, the Raiders are back on the clock at No. 19 and this time they land their wide receiver as they take Denzel Mims from Baylor. At one point, it felt as though Mims wasn’t going to be a day one prospect as his production at Baylor was thought of as a product of their offensive system.

However, Mims has done a good job shaking off that label since the season ended. He went to the Senior Bowl and did well in the game but was arguably even better in the drills leading up to it. Then, he showed up at the Scouting Combine and impressed in every drill.

While he showed athleticism in his route-running, catching, and vertical leaps, it was his 40-yard dash that stood out. A big target at 6-3 and 207 pounds, Mims ran a 4.38-second time in the 40-yard dash which shot him up draft boards.

For Las Vegas, it gives them another tall target that can stretch the field, something Tyrell Williams is also able to do. With those two on the outside along with tight end Darren Waller and slot receiver Hunter Renfrow in the middle of the offense, the Raiders passing attack could be much better than the prior season.

This isn’t the popular way their picks in the opening round have gone but it could give them the most bang for their buck.
