26. player. 811. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. C. Michigan. Cesar Ruiz

Like I said: Offensive. Line. This has been a popular pick in my mock drafts and I’m glad voters supported Cesar Ruiz’s selection.

Arguably the best center in the draft, Ruiz would be an immediate starter in the Dolphins’ underwhelming offensive line. While Ruiz could go as early as No. 22, it’s more likely that Ruiz is a late first-round pick. Some people may have him pegged as a second-rounder, but there are plenty of teams at the end of the round who could use an upgrade like Ruiz.

Another possibility with this pick is a trade up or down. The Lions might want this in a package for No. 3, but the Dolphins will almost assuredly try to keep this selection. Considering the talent level at the end of the first and beginning of the second are pretty similar, this selection should be in high demand.

Miami could trade down into the second to focus on a safety or a running back. Speaking of which, a running back like D’Andre Swift or J.K. Dobbins — who have both been linked to the team — would be a splendid addition to the backfield, but the smarter move might be waiting to take one of them later…
