50. . . Previous: 29th. Detroit Lions. 30. team

To say the pressure will be on Matt Patricia entering his third season as head coach with the Detroit Lions would be a huge understatement, especially after the disappointing results from last year.

Based off September, the Lions appeared to be heading towards at least a Wild Card spot in the NFC with a 2-1-1 record before going on to win just one more game the rest of the season.

Not even Matthew Stafford’s back injury can be used as a valid excuse for Detroit since some of the struggles were already taking place beforehand.

And while the Lions still seem confident in Stafford being their best option under center, if this team is going to truly be competitive, the defense is going to need a major upgrade.

Patricia and the Lions already made the difficult decision to move on from a top cornerback in Darius Slay after sending the three-time Pro Bowler to the Philadelphia Eagles in a trade in March, but at least the draft is the perfect opportunity to find a replacement.

Detroit rightfully had reasons to feel frustrated over winning just three games, but at least with the No. 3 pick in the draft, they will be in perfect position to land a top prospect at cornerback in Jeff Okudah if this is the direction the Lions want to go.
