NFL Power Rankings 2020: Texans, Rams shake things up after Brandin Cooks trade
By Dan Parzych
Ever since Peyton Manning decided to retire and call it a career, the Denver Broncos have struggled to find a reliable quarterback to build the franchise around.
And while Drew Lock certainly displayed a ton of potential towards the end of last season as a rookie by helping the Broncos win four of their final five games, the Missouri product still has plenty to prove.
Until Denver has a reliable quarterback to build the offense around, it’s going to be difficult for this team to make the leap to top contender in the AFC again, which is why the Broncos are currently this low on the list at the moment.
But as long as Lock picks up where he left off in 2019, the potential will certainly be there for Denver to hopefully become relevant in the AFC once again.
As exciting as it was to see the Broncos sign Melvin Gordon in free agency, Lock still needs plenty of help when it comes to the rest of the offense, mainly the offensive line and wide receiver positions.
This year’s draft will be filled with plenty of strong candidates for Denver to choose from at these positions, and if all goes well in less than two weeks, Lock will be in better position to elevate his game to new levels as a sophomore.
