NFL Power Rankings 2020: Texans, Rams shake things up after Brandin Cooks trade
By Dan Parzych
One can only imagine how different things would have been for the New York Jets last season if Sam Darnold didn’t miss the beginning of the year due to mono, but at least expectations will be high for the 2020 season.
Two years ago, the Jets felt confident enough in Darnold becoming their quarterback of the future following an impressive career at USC, and based on the last two seasons, he seems to be heading in the right direction.
What should have New York even more excited is how the Jets were one of the hottest teams in the NFL in the second half of last season after winning six of their final eight games, although there is still plenty of work to be done before September.
For starters, as great as it was to see the Jets bring Breshad Perriman on board for a one-year deal, picking up the slack with Robby Anderson no longer around will be easier said than done after the former Jets wideout joined the Carolina Panthers in free agency.
Having the right weapons to work with in the passing game along with the proper protection from the offensive line will be extremely important for Darnold and the Jets if they’re going to be a legitimate threat in the AFC moving forward.
Hopefully in the draft, New York can find a way to address these areas as well, which will certainly help Darnold feel less pressure.
