After how horrendously the Browns offensive line played last season, essentially joining Freddie Kitchens in completely hamstringing the offense, it’s no surprise that it’s a primary concern for the organization in the 2020 offseason. That was clear when they made an aggressive move early in free agency to land Jack Conklin to be their right tackle.

Now that they have Conklin, Joel Bitonio, J.C. Tretter and perhaps Wyatt Teller, the only spot that needs to be addressed is the left tackle. Many assume that’s what the Browns are going to use the No. 10 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft on and, frankly, they likely will. But even if they bring in Tristan Wirfs, Andrew Thomas or Mekhi Becton, they may like some veteran depth there.

That’s where they could use a player like Demar Dotson. The former Buccaneer has never been one of the best players in the league but he’s also never been anything close to a liability. He’s been a solid and consistent protector and road-grader in the passing and rushing attacks, respectively.

What’s holding back Dotson’s market as of right now is the simple fact that he’s now in his mid-30s and has shown some slight signs of age in recent years. To be sure, he’s still been a quality player but just a lesser version of what he once was. However, if that means the Browns could get him cheap and allow him to mentor and back up their rookie left tackle, that’s a valuable proposition that Cleveland should be highly interested in.
