2020 NFL Mock Draft: Redskins make QB splash, Giants grab star receiver
By Randy Gurzi
The Jacksonville Jaguars are undergoing a lot of changes this offseason as they seem ready to start another rebuild. They traded away Nick Foles, A.J. Bouye, and Calais Campbell this offseason after shipping off Jalen Ramsey last year.
They’re going to give Gardner Minshew a shot to win the job but if he can’t get it done, they could be looking to the 2021 draft for a new signal-caller. As for this season, they need to replace some of the talent they lost, which they do by taking Derrick Brown from Auburn.
After returning for his senior season, Brown made the leap from a late-first-rounder to a top-10 pick. One of the reasons he so sought after is his ability to win with his first step while affecting both the run and passing game, as described by Dan Schmelzer of NFL Mocks.
"Brown uses a quick first step to gain an immediate advantage over the opposing offensive lineman. He consistently puts the opposing offensive lineman in uncomfortable situations, gaining ground quickly with a good upfield burst. Brown also shows very good hand usage both as a run defender and a pass rusher."
There’s a chance this front office could be tanking for Trevor Lawrence, the Clemson quarterback who is expected to go first overall next draft. Adding Brown will help them build a solid defense while allowing them to still consider Lawrence next year.
