2020 NFL Mock Draft: Redskins make QB splash, Giants grab star receiver
By Randy Gurzi
The Miami Dolphins have three selections in the first round of this draft and they would be wise to try and move up. Sitting at No. 5 isn’t a bad place to be but considering they desperately need a quarterback, they can’t sit still and watch Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa go before they get on the clock — which is what happens in this 2020 NFL Mock Draft.
With both of them off the board here, they have a tough decision to make. Do they take Oregon’s Justin Herbert, who is the next quarterback on the board or do they target another need such as offensive tackle. Here, they decide to go with another need as they land the best offensive tackle in Tristan Wirfs out of Iowa.
Wirfs is the most pro-ready tackle in this class and while he was a right tackle for the majority of his career with the Hawkeyes, he did play left tackle at times as well, and did a good job there. Miami is in need of a new left tackle after trading Laremy Tunsil last season to the Houston Texans.
Adding Wirfs here won’t fix their quarterback issues but it will give them a solid piece to build their offensive line around — and that will help when they do land their new signal-caller.
