NFL Free Agency 2020: 10 Best remaining players in second wave

After a huge first wave of movement, the next group of NFL free agents will wait until after the draft to find new homes for the 2020 season.

The first wave of 2020 NFL free agency provided sports fans with some much-needed action, but the market is currently dormant. It appears that teams will wait until after the 2020 NFL Draft before signing any more free agents.

However, when the second wave of free agency hits, the following 10 players should receive plenty of offers. These are the best players still available on the market for teams to sign heading into the remainder of the 2020 offseason.

10. Jason Peters, OT

When Jason Peters retires, he’ll have a decent shot at making the Pro Football Hall of Fame. A recently elected member of the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team, Peters is entering his 17th NFL season. At this point, Peters’ career arc mimics Andrew Whitworth’s. Both left tackles dominated during the 2010s, but now they’re 38 years old and can only hold off Father Time for so much longer.

Given the shortage of quality left tackles in the NFL, Peters should be able to find a starting spot in 2020. At the very least, he can become a high-profile backup or rotational piece.

9. Prince Amukamara, CB

After a lost season with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016, Prince Amukamara revived his career with the Chicago Bears. In three seasons with the team, he intercepted three passes and defensed 29. Amukamara appeared in 44 games for the Bears before the team cut him in late February.

Amukamara experienced the best season of his career in 2018. Not coincidentally, the Bears boasted on of the best defenses in the NFL that year, and the team finished with a 12-4 record. However, Amukamara’s play slipped in 2019, and he became a veteran cap casualty.

While Amukamara may never reach his 2018 peak again, the soon-to-be 31-year-old could still hold down a starting job this coming season. Teams like the Atlanta Falcons or Dallas Cowboys could support their defenses by signing Amukamara to a short-term deal.
