4. McTelvin Agim, DT, Arkansas

Another player who provides added depth is McTelvin Agim of Arkansas. Eddie Goldman is a big part of the Chicago Bears’ rush defense. He does a great job of blocking the middle of the defensive line. He’s had some injuries, however, so he needs a quality backup to help keep him fresh.

Agim has the tools to be that help. He is still learning, only having played one season at tackle. He transitioned from defensive end and made that transition a good one. In 2019, he was the ninth-highest rated pass rusher among the Power-5 schools. In the Shrine game practices, he was the highest-rated defensive tackle and the third-highest in the Senior Bowl. Then he went to the NFL Combine and ran a sub-5.0 40-yard dash at 309 pounds.

With just one year of work at defensive tackle, teams are shying away from him. Perhaps they feel he’s a one-year wonder. Funny how that works out for a quarterback with just one good year under his belt but works against someone like Agim.

Some might think what the purpose of highlighting Agim’s speed might be since defensive linemen aren’t known to use speed. His speed shows he has some quickness and he shows that on film. There are times when he just explodes through a gap and gets into the backfield almost before the offensive lineman gets up from his stance. When he does that he creates a pileup that prevents the ball carrier from gaining any ground and causes fumbles.

Agim could be an excellent backup for Goldman. He is still developing but he can play plenty of snaps to keep Goldman fresh all season long.
