New Browns uniforms are clean homage to past but not without flaws
The Cleveland Browns new uniforms are the latest of the 2020 offseason and they offer a nice, clean look into the past but the jerseys also have flaws.
After the Falcons and Buccaneers had already revealed new uniforms this offseason and the Colts worked up a new logo, it was new Browns uniforms that were next to be unleashed upon the worlds. And as we know, Cleveland fans are among the most passionate in the NFL, so they were eagerly anticipating the new jerseys.
One of the cool wrinkles of the new Browns uniforms is that team owners, Jimmy and Dee Haslem, are donating the proceeds from the jersey sales upon release to the “Hats Off to Heroes” Foundation, which supports healthcare workers, first responders and educational professionals during the COVID-19 outbreak.
But what do the new Browns uniforms look like? To unveil their new uniforms on Wednesday, the Browns dropped a hype video that undoubtedly bangs over the head just how much these jerseys throw it back with their overall design.
And here’s a look at the still images of the new Browns uniforms combinations as opposed to just the video.
This is definitely a clean homage to the Browns teams of the past. Bringing in the brown numbers and lettering on white jerseys and white numbers and lettering on the brown jerseys is crisp. And it all flows well with the stripes.
Furthermore, the updates to the Color Rush jerseys are quite nice as well. Those Browns uniforms became the primary home jerseys for Cleveland in the 2019 season. However, they’ve removed some of the stripes and that makes for an overall better look.
The new Browns uniforms, unfortunately, aren’t perfect. For as sleek and cool as the new threads are in paying respect to the teams of the past, the orange pants were a fan-favorite addition to the uniform kits. And while they may not be the primary, it does feel unfortunate to not have it even as an alternate option.
Overall, this is a nice look for Baker Mayfield, Odell Beckham Jr., Myles Garrett and the rest of Cleveland. And you can lock up your new Browns uniforms on the official team pro shop while also helping donate to the COVID-19 relief workers.
